  Customer groups and Mail
Posted by: Xav - 05-30-2018, 03:59 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - Replies (1)

I don't know if I am just missing it or if there is already a way of doing it, but I would like to be able to use the built in Mail system and user groups in the following way:-

1. Customers to have the ability to belong to more than 1 customer group at a time.

2. Mail system let you select which group you wish to email

This would allow targeted emails to customers of those individual groups by a predefined parameter, because I can see no way of selecting subsets of customers at the moment without removing them from the overall customer base into a subset of that base.

For instance, you sell red and white wines. So 3 groups, default, red, white. Means you can send email to all customers or just specific tastes.

Regards,

Xav

  OCE 1.11.0 release - problem
Posted by: Xav - 05-23-2018, 07:10 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (3)

Today I tried to upgrade the 1.10.2 with the gold release of 1.11.0
Usually these upgrades go like a dream but today I have had problems.  When it was completed, I went to the dashboard but could not log in.  I got a "Permission denied" message.  I noted that  of the 5 icons on the top line (logout, clock, storefront, system details, admin pic - only the admin picture was displaying. But if I clicked on the position of the others, they worked. A bit of clicking later and I could log in.  I then up updated the user groups and it all looked OK.

Then I clicked on the storefront icon to view the store and got

Fatal error: Call to a member function isLogged() on null in /home/********/public_html/admin/controller/common/header.php on line 228    (******* = domain name which displayed properly).

So I cannot see the store front.   I shall restore to the 1.10.2 version and see what happens. (Update = reverted via backups and all is well)

  Tag Cloud Module
Posted by: Xav - 03-25-2018, 11:01 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (2)

I downloaded and installed the beta as an upgrade on a test site. No problems.  However, I discovered that the Tag Cloud Module was enabled by default after the home page displayed this message

" Notice: Undefined variable: text_notags in /home/........./public_html/catalog/view/theme/default/template/module/tagcloud.tpl on line 17 "

I had no tags and the immediate solution to get rid of the message was to disable the module. Obviously if tags are created the message does not appear.

Exclamation Call to Action!
Posted by: Tango - 03-21-2018, 12:18 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

As you can see, OpenCart-Overclocked recently had a few (hundred) updates to most of its core features.

Although I did my best to help Philippe in checking everything, before the release of 1.11.0, it's very important that together, we thoroughly test the following essential systems:

  • Export / Import
  • VQmods
  • Payment Systems
  • OpenBay Pro
  • ...
To do this, you have to download the latest version (almost production ready) from GitHub, install it and start reporting any issues you may encounter.

Happy bug hunting!

Add to cart & Buy It Now
Posted by: Xav - 03-10-2018, 03:48 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

I don't know if it is intended to work this way, but I found out about it due a customer moan :-)

On the product page of an item, suppose you choose amount 'X ' of the item ->

If you click the Add to Cart button, then the Buy It Now button, you get  'X' times 2 quantity in the checkout page.

OCE 1.10.2 How to delete transaction/PayM
Posted by: Xav - 03-09-2018, 04:53 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

I offered payment via CC/Sagepay and also PayM.  Never had anyone use PayM yet Rolleyes .  However how can I delete an order which has been accepted by OCE BUT was somehow allegedly done by PayM ( the customer is elderly and moans about things not being clear but has successfully ordered before).

1. She selected PayM.
2. I received a successful order notification from OCE.
3. No payment notification was received.
4. It was all a mistake/misunderstanding re PayM.
5. I just want to delete the transaction as otherwise my order totals/sales figure are wrong.

TIA

I have removed PayM as a payment method!!

  Extra Product Tabs
Posted by: Tango - 03-06-2018, 10:34 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - No Replies

Another great core addition would be the Extra Product Tabs.
This extension, allows us to add an infinite amount of product tabs, like Documentation for digital downloads.

Let's say someone sells WordPress modules.
Besides the description, the person may want to add another custom tab where he can document the Changelog and other stuff.

Thanks!

  Header/Footer Notification
Posted by: Tango - 03-06-2018, 10:17 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - Replies (2)

Sometimes stores get hit by some sort of calamity, like a hurricane/storm/snow around the shipping facility, so the delivery gets delayed.

This tiny mod helps with notifying the customers about these issues, thus preventing the flood of emails regarding the delays.

I think it would make a great addition to the core.

Thanks!

  Product filter by Category
Posted by: Tango - 03-06-2018, 10:09 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - Replies (1)

Another feature that would further improve the Admin experience would be the Product filter by Category.
This is extremely useful if you have many products and categories, as it lets you see all the products in the selected category.

Thanks!

Information MySQL Storage Engines
Posted by: Tango - 03-05-2018, 11:01 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Recently I've done a little research regarding improving the performance of OpenCart and I've stumbled upon some discussions about the database storage engines InnoDB and MyISAM.

Reading through all the posts, I've noticed that InnoDB is preferred as the default DB engine as it's faster and way more reliable (transactions support).

And taking into consideration that InnoDB is the default storage engine in MySQL 5.7, this says a lot about it's importance.

I know that OpenCart-Overclocked supports InnoDB, but only if you use the database conversion tool.
So in my opinion, InnoDB should be the default option for obvious reasons (also, adding indexes to all foreign keys).

Here are the discussions:
https://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php...40#p126198 (InnoDB supports full text indexing since MySQL 5.6)
https://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php...39#p557334
https://github.com/opencart/opencart/pull/986 (people report good performance improvements)
https://github.com/lilalaunesau/opencart-turbo (it may have bugs and needs some more optimizations)

What do you think?
